How Replica Foods are Created
The following is an introduction of the basic process for manufacturing replica foods, which is actually not widely known.
- Form mold
A mold that will express the rough food surface is created by pouring silicone into a box that contains the materials.
- Fill mold
Colored resin is slowing poured into the mold, and then it is hardened by heating it in an oven.
- Remove from mold
The hardened parts are removed from the mold, and any protrusions are corrected.
The item is colored using airbrushes and paint brushes while looking at a photograph of the actual food.
The dish is arranged as though for serving by adding elements to match the sketch or photograph. Finally, it is finished by giving its surface a sheen.
